Governmental Affairs

Aviation is a constant hot topic, and policy issues concerning the industry are arising daily. ASA takes action on behalf of our members to make sure that our members' interests are protected. ASA regularly meets with government agencies and proactively develops solutions that protect and promote aviation parts distribution

ASA's government affairs program is global and focuses on areas where members are located and where business is done. Not only is ASA working with government agencies, but also with industry groups that are developing best practices and standards.

Actively promoting safety and ethical business practices is a cornerstone to ASA's work. ASA members lead the only committee addressing quality and operational initiatives for distributors. ASA took a leadership role in maintaining the integrity of the parts supply chain by establishing the only publically available database for Stolen Parts Reporting.

ASA has worked with government agencies to ensure reasonable standards in a wide array of laws and policies that affect distributors, like export laws, small business laws, aviation safety laws, dangerous goods laws and even aviation-related criminal laws.
